Staff from Adult Services & Wellbeing in the Upper Calder Valley have been engaged with Active Calderdale for the last couple of years. All of their staff have completed “Moving Medicine” training, enabling them to speak with confidence to older adults about incorporating activity, however small, into their daily routine.

PRACTISING WHAT THEY PREACH!

We’re delighted to report that, with support from Laura Dooher from Active Calderdale, they are now practising what they preach in the office! A small storeroom has been transformed into a ‘mini-gym’ with a treadmill, raised desk, under-desk bikes, resistance bands, weights, floor mats and some inspirational posters.

Collette Landsborough, Manager of the Upper Valley Personalised Long Term Support Team said, “This will be a great addition to staff wellbeing, both mentally and physically! We wanted to be able to practice what we preach in terms of being more active. We cleared out an old storeroom and Active Calderdale kindly supported us in purchasing some basic equipment. The team are now able to have walking meetings . . . . . whatever the weather! We've already started making use of the walking pad – a few team members came in to work early last week, put some music on and walked. Another day, two team members sat pedalling with the under-desk bikes whilst they had an informal supervision session . . . . . it’s brilliant!”
