Active Culture @ Invictus Wellbeing

In recent months Active Calderdale has been working closely with the children’s charity Invictus Wellbeing at their base in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Invictus know all too well the link between physical activity and improved mental health and were keen to provide opportunities for both the young people they support and staff to be active.

Active Resilience on Noah's Ark

Noah’s Ark was established in 2000 to serve the locality of Ovenden, expanding over recent years to cover the whole of Calderdale. It was built by the community, for the community, with the aim of improving users’ mental, emotional, and financial wellbeing.

Isle of Arran - A Recovery Adventure

Monday 24th April 2023

The Basement Project delivers specialist drug and alcohol interventions across Calderdale and is an award-winning independent organisation with centres in Todmorden and central Halifax. The project believes in a holistic outlook and is a key advocate for the use of exercise in the recovery process. The funding from Active Calderdale has been used to provide members with the opportunity to be active when the time is right and in an environment in which they feel safe.

Staying Well - Funding an Active Future

Staying Well is an established and successful health and wellbeing initiative in Calderdale delivered by three community anchor organisations – Halifax Opportunities Trust, North Halifax Partnership and Hebden Bridge Community Association.

Opening School Facilities in Calderdale

As part of the Department for Education’s Opening School Facilities programme, Active Calderdale will be supporting schools in our area to bid for funding which will enable them to open their sports facilities to the wider community in the evenings and during weekends and school holidays.

This was no more evident than in the recently completed Rastrick Around The World Community Challenge. The challenge provided an opportunity for organisations to really prioritize physical activity, in line with Active Calderdale's approach.
