Active Competition Inspires Family Support Services

Overgate Hospice Social Stroll

Friday 4th October 2024

The Social Stroll takes place on the last Friday of every month at 10 AM, starting from the OSCA Foundation. Participants can look forward to approximately 45 minutes of gentle walking, followed by a warm cup of coffee and the chance to chat and share experiences with others.

Active Support For Stroke Recovery

Friday 4th October 2024

The Calderdale Stroke Support Group is a voluntary group open to anyone in Calderdale who has experienced a stroke and is working to rebuild their life.

At the group's September meeting, inspired by the recent Olympic and Paralympic Games, they were supported to host an Olympic-style event in partnership with Calderdale Sport Services. The activities included a bean bag throw, timed catching, basketball, and boccia. The members had a great time, showing their competitive spirit as they participated.

Battling Addiction - Louis' Story

The Basement Recovery Project operates in Todmorden and central Halifax, offering specialised support for those battling addiction. They take a holistic approach, believing that exercise plays a crucial role in the recovery journey. Thanks to Active Calderdale funding, they've been able to create opportunities for their members to get active in a safe and supportive environment, whenever they're ready.

Adult Social Care - Active Workplaces

Staff from Adult Services & Wellbeing in the Upper Calder Valley have been engaged with Active Calderdale for the last couple of years. All of their staff have completed “Moving Medicine” training, enabling them to speak with confidence to older adults about incorporating activity, however small, into their daily routine.

Calderdale Organisations Pursue Q4H Accreditation

Monday 26th February 2024

Calderdale groups and organisations have been signing up for the Quality 4 Health and Wellbeing (Q4H) accreditation in their droves recently, and as a result, will benefit from a £500 windfall.

The accreditation is designed to provide evidence to commissioners and funders that organisations have achieved exceptional standards of health and wellbeing service delivery. This is closely aligned with Active Calderdale principles, with physical activity being one of the key elements.
