We are more likely to listen to the people we know and trust, and people that are like us.

At the moment, those who encourage and support people to be active are typically health experts, or “sporty” people, which means that often the people who need help the most don’t get it. We want physical activity to be a part of every conversation in every home, and every place in the community from hairdressers to cafés, to GP surgeries. We also want everyone to meet and move, for ways to get active to be built in whenever we meet with others. With your help, they can!

Our plan is to make sure that you feel confident and able to support those around you to be more active – for you to become an Active champion! We want our champions to break the mould of an “active” person, to show that people of all walks of life can be active, and help everyone in the borough to meet and move.

Our approach in action
