Challenge Complete!
Every step counts on The Rastrick Challenge!!
They've done it!! Our Rastrick Challengers have put in an amazing effort over the last two months, completing over 35 million steps and travelling the equivalent of 17,903 miles around the globe!
Now the challenge is complete, it would be great to hear your thoughts and feedback, and we are asking all participants to complete the survey below. Completing this survey will help us understand the impact of the challenge and where we could improve to make our next challenge bigger and better!

Can you 'step up' for Rastrick?
Following the recent launch of our Active Rastrick Partnership, we’re excited to announce a new challenge to help residents and workers in Rastrick to move more.
We’re encouraging and supporting the people of Rastrick to take part in the Rastrick Around the World Challenge.
The challenge will begin on 1st July 2022, and is open to anyone and everyone in the Rastrick area (yes, you!) so be sure to play your part for the community and join in the fun!
How the challenge works
The idea behind the challenge is for residents to collectively move the same distance it would take to go from Rastrick, around the globe, and back. Sounds like a big challenge, right? That's right! That's why we're calling on you, your family, your friends and your neighbours to join us.
Each person that takes part is gifted a welcome goodie bag to send them on their travels including a pedometer, baseball cap, metal water bottle and wristband for children, and a metal water bottle, pedometer, sweatband and sports t-shirts for adults.
There'll also be rewards given out throughout the challenge, so keep up to date with our social media channels.
Move more in a way that works for you..

Nothing on here 'up your street?' That's ok!
All movement counts towards your steps and contributes to the Rastrick challenge total, so use this opportunity to find something new to try or maybe re-start that activity you used to love. Whether you're joining the challenge solo or joining with friends and family, every step you take will lead you somewhere new.
"Count me in!"
To register, all you need to do is complete our quick pre-challenge survey here, and then you're all ready to go and collect your free goodie bag from 1st July.
Then, get you can get moving in any way you choose, record your activity in steps or time, and submit it weekly to one of our partnering organisations or text us on 07508 620994 every Thursday. All activity levels will be recorded in either steps or time, and the total number of collective steps will be added to a grand total each week to monitor how far Rastrick has travelled.
You can then visit The Space @ Field Lane Community Hub where you will receive a FREE starter pack of goodies and some guidance to help you on your way. If you're unable to complete the survey registration here, you can complete this with assistance when you arrive at The Space.

A message from Anthony Whittaker, our Lower Valley Community Engagement Co-ordinator:
Welcome to the Rastrick Around the World Challenge. I invite anyone connected with Rastrick to get up, get moving and help us take Rastrick around the world!
Inactivity contributes to 1 in 6 deaths in the UK, the same number as smoking. It’s simply not good for us to spend too much time being inactive. This is an opportunity to be part of something exciting, together as a community, with the equipment you need to get out this summer and meet new people whilst improving your health.
Why not join a class at The Space @ Field Lane or take a walk down at Cromwell Bottom Nature Reserve and help us get around the world! I invite those who step up to this challenge to join our celebration event on 3rd September at The Space @ Field Lane to come down, get some food (on us) and see how you can continue being active - but for now, I hope to see you in and around Rastrick in your new t-shirts.
And here's a message from our friend Amanda Caldwell, a volunteer at The Space @ Field Lane:
We, the staff, volunteers and customers , are excited about being part of the Rastrick Around the World challenge with Active Calderdale.
Our programme of new fitness classes here at Space was designed to be welcoming and suitable for all, from armchair exercises to circuits. It's amazing to see the impact of adding a few extra steps to your daily routine and we will be encouraging our customers to walk to our hub over the summer, or even just to park slightly further away. Call in to our café on a Wednesday and Friday lunchtime for more encouragement and refreshments!
