Presentations were made at meetings of primary and secondary Headteachers with invitations for Expressions of Interest; the number of enquiries received far exceeded expectations and it was clear that there was an appetite for this programme to be implemented in Calderdale’s schools.

School drop-off and pick-up times can be stressful, congested and potentially unsafe, as everyone rushes to find the ideal parking spot right outside the school gates. They are hotspots for damaging emissions, dangerous for children crossing the roads and noisy for the surrounding residents – that’s where School Streets comes in!

The ActiveCdale cup is a friendly competition between the primary schools of Calderdale, the objective is to be the most active, in the greatest variety of ways.
The 2019 competition was held on social media, with schools throughout the borough taking part by submitting images and videos of all of the unique ways that they stay active throughout the day.
