Adult Social Care - Active Workplaces

Staff from Adult Services & Wellbeing in the Upper Calder Valley have been engaged with Active Calderdale for the last couple of years. All of their staff have completed “Moving Medicine” training, enabling them to speak with confidence to older adults about incorporating activity, however small, into their daily routine.

Quality 4 Health and Wellbeing

Calderdale groups and organisations have been signing up for the Quality 4 Health and Wellbeing (Q4H) accreditation in their droves recently, and as a result, will benefit from a £500 windfall.

The accreditation is designed to provide evidence to commissioners and funders that organisations have achieved exceptional standards of health and wellbeing service delivery. This is closely aligned with Active Calderdale principles, with physical activity being one of the key elements.

Active at Home - Carers Wellbeing

Carers Wellbeing Service Calderdale currently offer a wide range of services to unpaid carers in Calderdale with over 2,500 unpaid carers registered with them. These services include information and advice, access to carers needs assessments, support groups and social activities.

Many local authority services are often tasked with delivering advice on the benefits of physical activity. They are on the frontline and therefore their recommendations have the potential to be hugely beneficial for service users. For a service to be effective in this process, it is helpful for them to have first-hand experiences of the activities they help promote.

Kelly's Three Peak Adventure

The Basement Recovery Project provide a packed weekly timetable of activities for those recovering from addiction. One of these activities is the RIOT Runners club and on Sunday the 2nd of July, 6 members of the club took off to tackle the famous Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge.

Active Culture @ Invictus Wellbeing

In recent months Active Calderdale has been working closely with the children’s charity Invictus Wellbeing at their base in Halifax, West Yorkshire. Invictus know all too well the link between physical activity and improved mental health and were keen to provide opportunities for both the young people they support and staff to be active.
