Expanding and training our workforce

Thursday 19th December 2019

Everyone knows they need to be more physically active but mustering the motivation to change, and sustaining change over time, is very hard. We know that changing behaviour is driven by a combination of:

  1. Health and social care
  2. Voluntary and community

Opinion: Not Another Box!

Friday 13th December 2019

By Ben Williams, Sport England.

On the 24/25 October, Active Calderdale joined other Local Delivery Pilots to share thinking and learning about how we can enable inactive people to move more.

At the gathering, Donna Hall – the ex-Chief Executive of Wigan Council – talked about her experiences and learning from developing and delivering the Wigan Deal, which was the council’s approach to transforming how they delivered services to local people and asked local people what responsibility they should be taking for themselves.

November Update

Tuesday 3rd December 2019

November was a huge month for Active Calderdale, as we submitted our request for our first round of LDP funding, which will be instrumental in the rollout of system change for the borough. A significant amount of effort has been put into the application, and subsequent visits from Sport England. That’s not all that we got up to of course, our work continues to bring the systems of Calderdale together to create the most active borough in the North.

October Update

Thursday 7th November 2019

In October we submitted our pathfinder application to Sport England. As one of the 12 Sport England local delivery pilots across the Country, we are seeking to address physical inactivity levels through a focus on engaging the whole system and changing how it operates so physical activity is embedded within the day to day workings of a wide range of partners. The application has been in development for over a year; developing opportunities through a collaborative approach with partners from health and social care, community and voluntary sector and transport and planning.
