Community organisations and institutions including local voluntary and community organisations, charities, faith associations, libraries, housing associations and more, are trusted by many in the borough, and can contribute towards the attitudes and beliefs we hold.
To embed physical activity in everyday life, messages about, and opportunities to be active, need to come from every organisation and institution that exists within society. We need to make activity the easy choice, to create new places where people can be active by providing opportunities in the community spaces and places where people already attend, places they know and trust, and where they feel safe.
The conditions we aim to create:
- Physical activity is embedded within policies, working practices and delivery of V&C organisations and services
- Organisations and services are motivated, confident and able to integrate and embed physical activity into routine practice.
- Organisations provide social encouragement and support for local residents to be physically active.
- Organisations provide the opportunity for local residents to be physically active
Our approach in action
Working with us is never a one-way street, we want to become your partner and guide you through the process of making physical activity a part of what you do. See how our approach worked for other voluntary and community organisations in Calderdale with our video and blog case studies:
