Active Education Providers

From nurseries and playgroups, to schools and adult education colleges.
Education settings are a brilliant environment to support and encourage people of all ages to move more.
This can be by creating opportunities for different types of activities, normalising regular movement throughout the day, or teaching us about the difference that moving more can make to our physical, mental and emotional health. Education settings help build confidence in movement, and are able to teach us - through showing and doing - that when we move, we’re stronger.
Many schools, colleges and other education settings are already working to make it easier for everyone to move more everyday. Join our community, and play your part.
Working with education providers across Calderdale, we can help you discover:
-
what building everyday opportunities for movement into your work looks like,
-
how social encouragement of movement in education settings can work for you,
-
what’s possible within your capacity and resources,
-
what’s the best way to get started.
Working together, we can help you:
-
embed movement into your working practice and delivery,
-
get access to useful, reliable information about the benefits of being active,
-
promote opportunities to move more among staff, volunteers and students.
We need you to champion the importance of movement. Partner with us and help inspire more activity in Calderdale.
“Promoting positive attitudes and encouraging healthy behaviours is not just a priority for our children to follow whilst they attend primary school, our aim is to instil these choices so our children understand the importance of maintaining them into their adult lives.”
Sharon Harwood - Headteacher at New Road Primary
“Every single member of staff is invested in supporting pupils to be active and to enjoy the benefits of fitness and the life skills that come from being active and participating in sport."
Thomas Wood - PE Lead and Assistant Headteacher
