Active Calderdale recently had a prime slot on the airwaves, with Community Project Managers Anthony Whittaker and Emma Carter providing listeners of local station Phoenix FM with a wonderful overview of the programme's aims and benefits.

The slot, dedicated to all things Voluntary and Community and hosted by Gareth Ewing from VAC, provides listeners with the opportunity to hear first-hand the magnificent work being delivered within the sector.

This proved to be tailor-made for Anthony and Emma, who both did a superb job bringing the programme to life, including the objectives, the successes, the challenges and the opportunities that are open to the residents of Calderdale.

Listen to the highlights of the show below:

Three people in a radio studio, smiling by microphones. One wears a colorful scarf, another a dark hoodie. The room has a soundboard and computer.
“Here at VAC, we are blessed to have a regular radio slot with Phoenix FM, which is a magnificent springboard to share stories of success within the sector.  I am fairly new to hosting but I really wanted to provide Active Calderdale with a platform to share its work.  Anthony and Emma did exactly that and they also managed to have a small selection of their favourite music played, which is always a bonus”

Emma and Anthony really enjoyed their experience and thanked Phoenix FM and VAC for allowing them the platform to promote the work currently being delivered by Active Calderdale.

It was great to have the opportunity to share what we’re doing across the borough with Active Calderdale, supporting and encouraging people to be more active. I loved sharing some of my favourite songs and experiencing a bit of live radio broadcasting.  Thanks to Gareth and Anthony for making it really enjoyable and to Phoenix FM for making this happen.

It was a privilege to join Gareth and Emma on Phoenix Radio to share the work the Active Calderdale team are delivering across Calderdale. It was the first time I’d been a guest on the radio and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the show, particularly choosing some of my favourite songs to be played. A big thank you to Phoenix Radio and Gareth for the opportunity.
