Community Led Approach: Frequently Asked Questions
Here we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions in the hope that they will provide you with further information around the Community Led Approach, funding process and the project restrictions.
If your question isn't answered below or if you would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us by emailing your query to activecalderdale@calderdale.gov.uk.
Priority Area Restrictions
Q) Can people from other areas come to the activities/groups?
A) Yes, however projects should primarily benefit the individuals in our priority areas.
Q) Does it have to be an activity within that priority area?
A) No, but it should be easily accessible for people in the priority area. Insight must be collected to understand whether people in our priority areas are willing and able to attend.
Q) What are the CLA priority areas?
A) A list of our priority areas can be found on our Community Led Approach webpage here.
Funding Restrictions
Q) How much can we apply for?
A) You can find all the information on funding available for your area in the guidance document here.
Q) Can we fund staff costs?
A) This will be dependent on individual proposals, please have a conversation with your Community Project Manager.
Q) Can we get money for Community Growing spaces?
A) No. We can fund gardening projects if there is a direct line to further physical activity.
Q) Is the funding process ongoing or is there a deadline?
A) The process is ongoing until the money for the area is spent.
Q) What sort of thing can we apply for e.g. admin fees, food, or just coaching/venue hire?
A) This will be project-dependent, please speak to your Community Project Manager.
Project Requirements
Q) How quickly will I be able to start the project
A) Once approved projects could be started within 4-6 weeks, subject to financial and legal contracts.
Q) What evaluation will I be required to complete?
A) We have three levels of monitoring and evaluation dependent on project costs. The higher the investment, the more in-depth monitoring and evaluation we would require. Further details on what you can be expected to complete as part of your evaluation can be discussed with your Community Project Manager.
