Last week, Active Calderdale brought together key sport and physical activity partners at a System partner Connection and Collaboration Event to strengthen relationships and explore opportunities to work more closely across Calderdale.
Representatives from organisations including England Boxing, British Triathlon, England Netball, Volleyball England, Bowls Yorkshire, Paddle UK, the Rugby Football Union, England Squash, Rounders England, the Lawn Tennis Association, Youth Sports Trust, Activity Alliance and Yorkshire Sport Foundation joined place partner Active Calderdale.
The event provided an opportunity to introduce Active Calderdale's work and priorities, helping national partners better understand the local context and the areas where support could make the greatest difference. Local system leads from Communities, Health & Social Care, Children & Young People and Leisure, also shared updates on their work across Calderdale, highlighting key priorities and the communities they are currently focusing on.
Increasing physical activity and tackling inequalities through a place-based approach is about organisations coming together around a shared purpose – creating a healthier, happier and stronger Calderdale through physical activity and sport.
Bringing Sport England’s system partners together was a great opportunity to connect, understand each other’s priorities and start building the foundations for stronger partnership working going forward. We now look forward to building on this and continuing to work together to help more people in Calderdale be active.
Richard Croker - Active Calderdale Programme Manager
The session concluded with networking discussions, giving system partners the chance to connect directly with local leads, share their expertise, and explore how collaboration can help create a stronger, more connected system that supports more people in Calderdale to be active.
Feedback from attendees was extremely positive, and it's hoped the event can become a more permanent fixture on the calendar.
"NGB in Sport is a new area to me, so I have learnt a lot. Making connections and hearing about opportunities that will be relevant to our target groups was beneficial."
